Knoebels Amusement Resort received the Golden Ticket Award for “Best Food,” and “Best Carousel” for its Grand Carousel. In addition to the first place awards, Knoebels was a finalist in a number of other categories as follows: Third Best Park; Third Friendliest Park; Third in Top 10 Wood Roller Coasters for Phoenix; Third Best Halloween Event; Fourth Best Indoor Roller Coaster for its Black Diamond; and Fifth Best Dark Ride for its Haunted Mansion.
“These awards are coveted in the industry,” said Dick Knoebel, President of Knoebels Amusement Resort. “Being selected as recipient of a Golden Ticket is an immense honor, so we would like to thank all of the Golden Ticket Awards voters.”
During their acceptance speech for “Best Carousel” Brian and Rick Knoebel spoke of the care put into maintaining the 102 year old Grand Carousel that was purchased by the park in 1941, as well as the fact that it is a tradition for newborn Knoebel family members to take their first ride on the carousel very early on in life. The Grand Carousel has received the award every year since its inception.
Dick Knoebel accepted the award for “Best Food,” adorned with Knoebels-themed chef’s attire. He joked that he took matters into his own hands after coming in second for the award behind Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. He then reflected on the great honor of receiving the award on behalf of Knoebels team members.
The Golden Ticket Awards annually recognize the “Best of the Best” in the amusement industry and are calculated from an international poll conducted by Amusement Today. The results are from a survey that is sent to a database of experienced and well-traveled amusement park fans around the world asking them to rate the “bests” in 25 categories.
